Variations on Transcending the Finiteness of Human Vision

Riga Art Space, Latvia, 10 July - 23 August 2009

The exhibition offers twelve variations on the finiteness of human vision.
These variations are provided by Adel Abidin’s Tasty, Joakim Eskildsen’s The Roma Journeys, Jaakko Heikkilä’s The Unspoken Destinies, Sasha Huber’s Rentyhorn, Sanna Kannisto’s Private Collection, Bee Studies and Poison Dart Frog Males, Tuomas Laitinen’s Wall Street, Sini Pelkki’s Passage, Anu Pennanen’s Sõprus (Friendship) and You don´t realize it used to different, Harri Pälviranta’s Prison Sheets, Seppo Renvall’s Planet Earth – Encyclopedia, Jani Ruscica’s Batbox/Beatbox and Evolutions, and Jari Silomäki’s My Weather Diary and Ordinary towns on ordinary days.

Each in its own way reflect on the difficulty of seeing beyond marked paths and mental highways, of transcending physical boundaries and zones to create new (political) spaces and alternatives. The works of all of these Finland-based artists were made on the move.

The exhibition is curated by Marita Muukkonen from FRAME.
